  The AIDS crisis really got the ball rolling. Fear and panic made MANY MORE than JW's not want a transfusion. Of course they were a part of it but it wasn't those wackos that brought about such intense alterante blood research. Remember, they are a puny little group that thinks the world revolves around them.

  Scared I'll Never be Happy Again

  so it's' been 8 months since i was disfellowshiped.

  i moved out of my mothers house accross the country to room with a friend.

  things have been going ok, it's just strange to be so far away from everything that felt familiar, even the meetings.

  It is possible to find people that will eventually be able to listen to you and understand. Actually many here do just that. We understand the hurt. But you must remember the old JW teaching that if a spring in the hand is let loose too fast it will fly out of the hand without any control. Dont go out of control. You need your sleep and your wits. Of course you love those people. And of course you love your family. Now you must live without forgetting that love, but you must put it in its place. You ARE IMPORTANT no matter what the JW's told you about being a miserable sinner! Sounds like you are a pretty good one! Like all the rest of us. Its called life. So live it. Lean on your friends here. Be patient about building friendships. They will come. If you need therapy, get it. If you need friends? make them. Just dont give up on being free and honest with yourself. Good luck little Padawan! We are on your side!

  i have come to the conclusion that posting here and visiting this site is not healthy for me anymore.

  i just get angry and upset when i read all the stories of injustice and corruption that go on in the jehovahs witness religion.

  they are true no doubt, as i have personally experienced many injustices and abuses in my life from being a witness.

  Most Damning Publication?

  of all of the watchtower's many publications dating now to all the way back to russell, which one publication is the most damning in showing they are a complete crachpot of a religion?

  and i course, i mean which original publication before they changed a few words and reprinted!.

  personally, i think it is probably russell's the divine plan of the ages.

  Grieving in JW Land

  while experiencing a seemingly annual time of grief over the deaths of my sister and mom, a few other posters mentioned they experienced similar episodes linked to family deaths.

  i've known some in my jw family who have this shared experience as well.. i know that grief as an emotion must be dealt with, that is, allowed to happen and be experienced, or we end up stuffing the emotions inside ourselves.

  and any emotions we've stuffed and hidden will always try to get out in the body's normal course of healing itself.

  Though what you say is true for many JW's obviously its not true for all. The feelings you are having of missing the dead are not unique to JW's who repress grief. I think many of us do not grieve because we cannot bear the finality of death. It took over a year before I broke down and wept for my mom's passing. Not because of JW thinking, but because it took that long for me to step back from surviving and coping and taking care of family left hanging by the loss. It finally made its way to the fore. It was so healthy to do that. In the car the song Photograph by Ringo came on and I litearlly did a primal karaoke version on the highway tears streaming down my cheeks. (All I have is a photograph and I realize you're not coming back any more.)

  We remember mom all the time but its true, that day in january is marked in our minds for its horror and finality. Love you mom and I celebrate your loving and bitchy nature!

  JW depression comes from knowing there is no way out of the pressure of being a Witnoid, study, meetings, service, selling magazines, boring assemblies and conventions, peer pressure from people who dont even have an internal pressure to do these things. The insincerity is overwhelming. And everyone judges you by your highlighter activity!

  The WT Organization is like a madhouse that is full of mental and physical abuse of its inmates. The danger is to those held captive, not so much those not associated with it. Dangerous cult? To those held in its tentacles yes. Run away!
